Who is this course for? Python is a very popular, versatile, open source language, and often used for data analysis.  This course is aimed at people who would like to start using Python for their data analysis tasks

Learning Objectives: Attendees will have a broad understanding of Python and be able to write Python scripts to analyse and visualise data.

Course Content:
The course teaches Python for data analysis. It starts with a brief overview of Python’s history and philosophy, and explains why Python has become so popular. It covers the basics of the language; data types, data structures such as lists and dictionaries then control flow and functions. In lab exercises, attendees import data from text/CSV files, Excel spreadsheets and databases, clean and transform the data, build charts to visualise results then finally export the transformed data.

The course covers several famous Python packages including:

  • pandas, for data analysis and manipulation
  • seaborn, for data visualisation
  • requests, for connection to APIs
